Downtown Georgetown, KY Elopement | A Cozy Alleyway Wedding to Start 2025

There is something really special about being part of the very first elopement of a new year.

Not just because it feels like a fresh start…
but because it sets the tone for everything that’s to come.

On January 12th, I had the honor of officiating Elope Lexington’s first elopement of 2025 with a couple whose love story came full circle — and whose intimate Georgetown, Kentucky elopement perfectly captured what this experience is all about: doing things your way.

A Love Story That Came Back to Georgetown, Kentucky

Years ago, the groom moved away from Georgetown, Kentucky to begin a new chapter of his life. Time passed, life unfolded, and eventually, love found its way in.

Now, the two of them are relocating back to Georgetown together — choosing to start this next season in the place that once held such a meaningful part of his story.

When it came time to choose where to get married, they knew they wanted a downtown Georgetown elopement that felt simple, personal, and true to who they are.

A Low-Key, Informal Elopement in Downtown Georgetown

From the very beginning, this couple envisioned something relaxed and intimate.

No big production.
No rigid timeline.
No expectations they didn’t actually care about.

Just a meaningful moment focused on their relationship.

We tucked into the alleyway next to Desserts By Rebecca on Main Street in Georgetown, KY — a hidden downtown gem with warm brick walls, overhead string lights, and a naturally romantic atmosphere.

This is what eloping in Kentucky is all about:

Freedom.
Intentionality.
And creating a wedding day that feels like you.

Saying “I Do” Under the String Lights

As they stood hand-in-hand beneath the café lights, downtown Georgetown faded softly into the background.

They exchanged vows surrounded by warm brick, gentle evening light, and that quiet stillness that happens when a moment feels truly sacred.

After the ceremony, we explored the alley for portraits — capturing forehead kisses, easy laughter, and those just-married smiles that never get old.

One of my favorite moments was when they held up their hands to show off their wedding rings beneath the lights, grinning from ear to ear.

Simple.
Cozy.
Perfect.

Whether you’re dreaming of a downtown Georgetown elopement, a garden ceremony, a waterfall elopement, a distillery wedding, or a courthouse-alternative in Kentucky — it all counts.

And it all matters.
