When they met in person for dinner at Agave & Rye, Ashley remembers Ryan being incredibly nervous, incredibly sweet, and incredibly red. According to both of them, his face and ears were practically glowing.

The two settled into a booth and spent hours talking, laughing, and moving a little closer together as the evening went on. Their chemistry was apparently obvious to more than just the two of them. As another family left the restaurant, they overheard someone make a joking comment that the pair might need to “get a room.”
Nothing says successful first date quite like receiving commentary from the neighboring table!
For Ryan, the entire evening simply felt natural. He smiled throughout the date, smiled the whole drive home, and already knew there was something special about Ashley.
Love That Feels Easy
When asked to describe their relationship, Ashley chose the words calm, consistent, and fun.
Ryan’s choices were calming, fulfilling, and heaven.
Different words, but the same beautiful message: they feel at home with one another.
Ryan loves how deeply Ashley loves. She is his biggest cheerleader, his source of peace, and the person who can make anything—from a weekend getaway to a trip to the store—feel like the best part of his day.
Ashley loves that Ryan always shows up. Whether she needs encouragement, help, comfort, or simply someone beside her, she knows he will be there. He is also, according to Ashley, a true jack-of-all-trades who can fix almost anything—and if he doesn’t know how, he will figure it out.
Honestly, that seems like an excellent quality in both a husband and a road-trip companion.
The Moment Ashley Knew
One particular concert helped Ashley realize that Ryan was her person.
She had surprised him with last-minute tickets to see an artist he had been dying to watch, even though she wasn’t feeling her best that day. Once they arrived, she tried to push through, but Ryan could tell something was wrong.
The concert immediately stopped mattering.
His only concern was getting Ashley home safely and taking care of her. He gave up the show without hesitation, brought her home, found what she needed to feel better, and stayed beside her throughout the night.
For Ashley, that moment confirmed what his actions had been telling her all along: Ryan was someone she could feel completely loved and safe with.
A Proposal in Their Favorite Place
After returning home from a Nashville trip celebrating Ashley’s 40th birthday, Ryan had the ring—and absolutely no interest in waiting any longer.
Early one morning, Ashley was still tucked into bed with their dogs when Ryan came into the room, knelt beside her, took her hand, kissed it, and asked her to marry him.
It wasn’t an elaborate production with hidden photographers or complicated plans. It was quiet, comfortable, sincere, and happened in one of their favorite places: at home together with the dogs.
In other words, it was perfect for them.
A Wedding Day Full of Personality
Ashley and Ryan’s wedding day carried that same relaxed, genuine feeling.
Ashley looked beautiful in her textured white dress, with a cheerful yellow flower tucked into her hair. Ryan wore a light blue shirt with navy pants, giving the entire day a fresh, easygoing summer look.
They held hands during their ceremony on the courthouse steps, exchanged rings, and officially began their marriage in a setting that gave them both gorgeous architecture and plenty of room to have some fun afterward.
